Your Ultimate Colon Cancer Awareness Month Event Guide

March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month, during which survivors, advocates, medical professionals and lawmakers come together to spread awareness about colon cancer and the importance of screening. We've compiled a comprehensive list of some of the awesome events planned for this month. Check them out and get involved in the fight against colon cancer!

March 3 - 26: The BIG Colon Tour

Colon Cancer Alliance's giant inflatable colon is back on the road this March for its nationwide initiative to spread awareness for colon cancer. What better way to teach people about colon cancer than with an inflatable colon that features various stages of disease (normal colon tissue, Crohn’s Disease, polyp, malignant polyp, colon cancer & advanced colon cancer)?

The BIG Colon Tour, sponsored by Bayer Healthcare, LLC., is coming to a town near you! Check out CCA's scheduled stops and plan your walk through the giant colon.

March 10: American Cancer Society Night with the Denver Nuggets

Join the American Cancer Society for a night of sports, fun, and blue—cheer on Colon Cancer Awareness Month and the Denver Nuggets Thursday, March 10th at 7:00 PM at Denver's Pepsi Center! The deadline to purchase tickets in the American Cancer Society section has come and gone, but you can still attend and rock your blue from any section.

March 14 - 16: 2016 Call on Congress

Call-on Congress is a three-day event where colorectal cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones from all over the U.S. unite to make their voices heard in Washington, D.C.! Check out the recap video from last year to see what it's all about.

Attendees will spend two days learning about research and important policy issues. On the third day all 100 of them have the opportunity to meet with members of Congress and their staff on the Hill. This year is extra special – it is the 10th anniversary of Call on Congress!

March 16: Virtual Lobby Day 2016

Call-on Congress attendees will meet with congressional offices on March 16 asking for support of Fight CRC’s legislative goals. You can ask your members for support from home with just a few clicks! Visit CRCVirtualLobby.org to take action.

March 16: Cleveland Cavaliers CRC Awareness Game

Fight Colorectal Cancer has partnered with the Cleveland Cavaliers to host our second annual Colorectal Cancer Awareness night at Quicken Loans Arena on March 16, 2016, as they take on the Dallas Mavericks. The game will be televised on FSOHIO and you can tune into WTAM 1100 / 100.7 WMMS / 87.7 FM (ESP) to listen in.

March 18 - 19: Early Age Onset Colorectal Cancer Summit

This event will bring together early age onset (EAO) colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors, loved ones, health care professionals and researchers from across the country. The program will provide extensive opportunities for participants to advance their understanding of the rapidly increasing incidence of rectal and colon cancer among young adults under 50 years of age in the U.S. and abroad.

This ground breaking program will, for a second year, provide both survivors and health care professionals opportunities to leverage each other’s insights and provide an opportunity for all to hear leading clinicians and scientists on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, genomics and quality of life preserving treatment options for EAO-CRC.

The course will include lectures, workshops and panel discussions designed to facilitate multidisciplinary consensus regarding the priorities of EAO-CRC prevention, clinical care, quality of life and research moving forward. Learn more & register.

March 19: St. Louis Undy Run/Walk

Run brave and knock out colon cancer! Dare to be bold at the St. Louis Undy Run/Walk, a family and pet friendly underwear themed-5K that raises funds and awareness for colon cancer. This all ages event also includes a 1-Mile Fun Run, a giant inflatable colon, and more! Race packet pickup & on-site registration begins at 7:30 am.

March 19: 2016 Rumpshaker 5K

Register now for the 8th Annual Rumpshaker 5K! Since 2009, the Rumpshaker 5K has raised almost a million dollars to promote awareness about colorectal cancer, grant funds to fight and treat it, and provide hope for colorectal cancer survivors and those fighting the disease.  This event is a fun, family friendly experience for all ages. The event will take place in Birmingham, AL at 8am.

March 19 - 26: Get Your Rear in Gear Run/Walk

The Colon Cancer Coalition has numerous Get Your Rear in Gear events planned for colon cancer awareness month. Check out the full event list to find a run nearest you! Registration and any donations support local screening and awareness programs.

March 20: Scope It Out Run/Walk Washington D.C.

Join the Colon Cancer Alliance in the heart of Washington, D.C. for one of the largest annual colon cancer awareness events in the country. Scope It Out starts and ends at Freedom Plaza and will take runners and walkers up scenic Pennsylvania Avenue to the U.S. Capitol, bringing the Scope It Out message to the doorstep of our nation’s decision makers.
