The health care system in the United Sates is an important pillar of society, and brings together several societal realms to create programs that provide medical care for all citizens.

Health care involves thousands of key players that work together to make the system work. Physicians, lawmakers, politicians, advocacy groups, and patients are all directly involved in the processes and practices of the U.S. health care system.

To give us a little more insight into how the U.S. health care system has evolved over the years, here's a great infographic highlighting some of the most important benchmarks in health care history.

You can see how health care has been reformed and reformed again throughout the years with shifts in governmental administration, social attitudes, and individual health trends. Despite the changes and different opinions on the health care system, the ultimate goal remains the same: to provide U.S. citizens with the medical care they need to strive for health and well-being.
