According to a recent announcement by Colon Cancer Coalition, the 11th annual Twin Cities Get Your Rear in Gear event will be held at the Mall of America on October 11th, 2015.

Anne Carlson, executive director of the Colon Cancer Coalition, remarked on the change in location in the organization's latest press release. "Moving Get Your Rear in Gear – Twin Cities to Mall of America gives us many new and exciting opportunities."

“We are thrilled about the visibility this partnership gives colon cancer both to local and national audiences. Our supporters have been waiting for the day when colon cancer gets the public attention that other cancers and diseases have had for a long time. Moving our signature race to Mall of America gives us a chance to raise the profile of this preventable cancer," Ms. Carlson added.

Minnesota currently ranks 9th in the nation for highest statewide screening rates, touting a 70% screening compliance rate. Funds raised at Get Your Rear in Gear Events support local screening programs such as the Minnesota Department of Health’s Sage Scopes Screening program, a Colorectal Cancer Screening Navigator through the American Indian Cancer Foundation, and other screening awareness initiatives.

The event on October 11th, 2015 will feature a 5K Run/Walk, Kids’ Fun Run and activities for the whole family. Information about registration, volunteering, fundraising, and sponsorship is available online here.
