Unfortunately, there are a lot of myths out there about colon cancer and colon cancer screening. Too many people out there think colon cancer is "man's disease" or an "old folks' disease."
The truth? Women are only slightly less likely than men to get colon cancer, and 10% of all colon cancer cases -- that's an estimated 13,683 people in the US in 2014, per American Cancer Society -- occur in people less than 50 years old.
